Two musicians working in music studio

Educators

The MLC has developed resources designed to help music industry, songwriting, and composition instructors at colleges and universities learn more about our organization and our work to achieve The MLC's mission. Check back often for new resources.

Educator Toolkit

We have created a package of materials for high school or college instructors to use. These are designed for use in a music business, songwriting, or music composition course. The toolkit includes two versions of a video recording (35 minutes and 20 minutes), a white-label PowerPoint presentation with talking points, in-class activities, test questions, and a resource list of videos, websites, documents/articles and books. Click here to request access to our Educator Toolkit.

Educator Ambassadors

Educators who teach courses in high schools, colleges, universities, and law schools are invited to apply to use the designation of “MLC Educator Ambassador”. Click here for more information and to apply.

Free Online Micro-Courses

The MLC offers several free online micro-courses to help music creators, students, and industry professionals learn about protecting music rights, collecting royalties, and The MLC. Consider assigning a micro-course to your students as a requirement or for extra-credit. The courses are free, only take a few hours to complete, and provide the student with a customized Certificate of Completion that they can submit to you which includes their name and the date of completion. Students take the courses on our MLC Moodle Cloud learning management system. All you need to do is direct your students to our Courses website page. Click here to view a list of courses and sign up to check them out.

The MLC Educational Event Support Program

We are excited to help you host an MLC Educational Event on your campus or in your community! Our Educational Event Support Program provides funds that can be used to towards minor expenses incurred when you host an event, such as food, beverages, and meeting room/classroom rental. Click here for more information and to request support.

Speaker Request

If you have a group of 15 or more students, we may be able to have a member of our team join your virtual event or class as a guest speaker. If your individual class does not have 15 or more students, consider partnering with another class for a co-hosted session or hosting an event for interested students outside of a formal class setting. This opportunity is subject to speaker availability. Click here to request an MLC speaker for your class or student event.
