Unclaimed Accrued Royalties
In accordance with its statutory responsibilities under the Music Modernization Act, The MLC has started developing the congressionally mandated process for distributing remaining unclaimed accrued royalties, which are royalties The MLC has received but has not yet been able to match or distribute, despite its efforts to do so, as of the expiration of the statutory minimum holding period. Unclaimed accrued royalties include unmatched royalties and unclaimed royalties. The MLC intends to begin these distributions in 2027 through the market share distribution process, starting with blanket royalties from 2021 usage. The following dashboard provides transparency into the remaining unclaimed accrued royalties associated with 2021 usage. It shows current data by month, including total royalty pools reported, amounts distributed or in dispute, and the remaining unclaimed accrued royalties that may be eligible for future market share distributions. The dashboard also provides a detailed breakdown of these remaining unclaimed accrued royalties — including unmatched royalties, unclaimed royalties, and other related amounts — and offers visibility into projected monthly market share distributions over the next 12 months.
