The MLC helps ensure songwriters, composers, lyricists, and music publishers receive the mechanical royalties they’re owed from U.S. streaming services. If you’re a songwriter entitled to collect your own royalties, or a publisher or administrator collecting royalties on behalf of songwriters, you should become a Member of The MLC. If you’re a songwriter with some or all of your songs (aka musical works) managed by a publisher or administrator, you can still sign up for The MLC Portal to access the Songwriter Hub, where you can view all your songs that are registered with The MLC and interact with your song data in a whole new way.
Who is the Songwriter Hub for?
The Songwriter Hub is designed for songwriters whose songs and royalties are managed by a publisher or administrator. This Hub gives songwriters and their teams — managers, attorneys, and others who work with songwriters — greater visibility into their data with The MLC, along with tools to help them better understand and manage the writer information tied to their catalogs.
The Songwriter Hub also supports Members of The MLC who self-administer some songs, but have a publisher or administer managing others, giving them the ability to view the data for their published works and tools to keep their catalog accurate and organized.
What can I do in the Songwriter Hub?
The Songwriter Hub gives you an easy way to:
- Build your catalog – Search all the ways your name appears in The MLC’s database and create a catalog of your songs
- Download your data – Access and download a complete list of your songs any time to check it for accuracy and share it with your team to make sure all your songs are accounted for
- Suggest matches – Search for unmatched sound recordings and suggest matches to the songs in your catalog using our Matching Tool
- Submit corrections – Easily submit update requests for details like writer names or IPI numbers directly to The MLC in just a few clicks
