Rell Lafargue is the President & Chief Operating Officer at Reservoir, where he oversees the company’s operations across six global offices. Rell currently serves on the Board of the MLC and is the Treasurer, as well as an active member of the Audit Committee, Compensation Committee, and Budget Performance Advisory Committee. He has served The MLC since 2019, helping to build the organization as an original member of the MLC Operations Advisory Committee. Rell has a long history of advocating for the publishing community, indie publishers, and songwriters, having spent his entire career in the independent music space. 

At Reservoir, Rell built the company’s infrastructure, assembled its Creative and Synch teams, established its administration systems, and developed the international network that oversees Reservoir’s copyrights to this day. He also spearheads Reservoir’s global expansion efforts, including the acquisitions of the historic Shapiro Bernstein and TVT Music Publishing catalogs, plus iconic record labels Chrysalis Records, Tommy Boy Music, and Philly Groove Records. Under Rell’s direction, Reservoir has grown to represent over 150,000 compositions and 36,000 master recordings worldwide. Rell also serves on the board of the International Confederation of Music Publishers (ICMP) and Music Publishers Canada, and he previously served on the board of the Association of Independent Music Publishers—NY Chapter. In recognition of all his work, Rell was named a 2024 Billboard Power Player, a 2023 Billboard Indie Power Player, and a 2023 Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Power Player. Rell is an accomplished producer, performer, arranger, software consultant, and university lecturer. He holds a master’s degree in Music Business and Entertainment Industries from the University of Miami.
