Melanie Santa Rosa is Senior Vice President of Global Administration at Spirit Music Group and based in their New York office. In this role, she oversees Spirit’s copyright efforts throughout the world.
Santa Rosa has over twenty years of experience in music copyright administration, performing rights, licensing, and global societies. She joined Spirit in 2010 as Manager, Film/TV/Advertising, Performance and Copyright Administration. Prior to Spirit, she was at BMI for 10 years where she worked with their songwriters and publishers, as well as liaised with other performing rights organizations (PROs).
An advocate for creators, Melanie Santa Rosa contributes to the music publishing industry-at-large as an active member of several organizations, including the Association of Independent Music Publishers (AIMP), the National Music Publishers Association (NMPA), the Mechanical Licensing Collective (MLC), Women in Music, and the Society-Publisher Forum (SPF). She serves on the MLC’s Operations Advisory Committee, the board of AIMP’s New York Chapter, the NMPA’s team 100, as a publisher member director on AMRA’s board, and participates in several of SPF’s working groups.
Santa Rosa’s contributions at Spirit Music Group has helped to build the company into a leading independent music publisher, owning and/or managing more than 100,000 songs and recordings spanning multiple decades and every musical genre. Since joining the Spirit team, Santa Rosa has been an integral part of the company’s success and continually works to build Spirit Music Group into one of the premiere indie publishing partners in the world.
Spirit’s portfolio consists of over 200 #1 Billboard hits and over 450 Top 10 songs and a roster of hitmakers including Pete Townshend (The Who), Marc Bolan (T. Rex), Rick Nowels, David Paich, David Garcia, Tim McGraw, Daddy Yankee, Billy Squier, Dropkick Murphys, Kara DioGuardi and many more.
